Introducing the new Rebate cost type in group pricing, enabling accurate cost capture for US-market intermediary structures within Wave RMS.

Written by Fernando Fallabrino

What's new

We are pleased to introduce a new cost type within the Group Pricing feature that extends Wave RMS's group evaluation capabilities to better serve properties operating with US market intermediary structures.

Group pricing, rebate cost type

When evaluating a group request, accurately accounting for all associated costs is essential to understanding the true profitability of the business. Previously, users could model commission-based costs and complimentary rooms as part of their group evaluation. However, a common cost structure in the US market, the rebate, could not be captured within the system.

A rebate is a fixed monetary amount paid per room to an intermediary or booking agent as part of a group agreement, and is distinct from a commission in that it is a flat fee rather than a percentage of revenue. With this update, users can now add a rebate cost directly to a group pricing request, ensuring the group profit calculation accurately reflects all costs associated with accepting the business.

Prerequisites

No configuration is required at system level. The rebate option is available as a new selection within the Cost Type field when adding costs to a Group Pricing request.

New capabilities

  • A new Rebate cost type is now available within the Group Request cost configuration, alongside the existing Commission and Complimentary options.

  • Users can enter a fixed per-room rebate amount to be included in the group displacement and profit analysis.

  • The rebate cost is factored into the overall group evaluation, contributing to the Total Cost and Group Profit figures displayed in the Evaluation summary.

Benefits

  • Accurate cost capture: Properties working with US-market intermediaries can now model the full cost of a group offer without manual workarounds.

  • Better-informed decisions: The group profit and recommended group rate now reflect rebate obligations, giving revenue managers a reliable basis for acceptance decisions.

  • No setup required: No additional configuration is needed; the new cost type is immediately available within the existing Group Request workflow.

How to access this update

The rebate cost type is immediately available within the existing group pricing request workflow. No system-level configuration is required.
